Topics will include employee vaccination and benefit issues, an update as to IRS and DOL developments and recent court decisions affecting employee benefit plans.

Robert West, Haynes Benefits, PC & Philip McKnight, Stinson

Robert "Bob" West, an expert in employee benefits and employment and labor law, is putting his 30 plus years of experience to work for the clients of Haynes Benefits. Bob's focus is on the design and interpretation of 401(k), pension, profit sharing, deferred compensation, ESOPs, health, cafeteria and other ERISA employee benefit plans. Bob counsels plan sponsors and trustees regarding fiduciary responsibilities, plan compliance issues and other ERISA and IRS requirements. He has assisted numerous clients with DOL and IRS investigations, voluntary compliance programs offered by both agencies and HR compliance issues.

Prior to becoming a Shareholder/Director with Haynes Benefits, Bob was a partner in a national law firm. Bob graduated from Phillips University and received his law degree from Washburn University magna cum laude and is a former chairperson for the employee benefit committee for the KCMBA. An author of numerous articles, Bob frequently conducts training seminars and workshops on employee benefits and HR compliance topics.

Philip "Phil" McKnight has a particular focus on executive compensation programs for corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies and Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), and guides legal and strategic issues concerning executive compensation, profits interests (carried interests), stock plans and other equity compensation structures.

He advises on the drafting and administration of qualified retirement plans, ESOPs, omnibus equity compensation plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, change in control plans, employment agreements, short and long-term bonus plans, phantom-equity compensation and other executive compensation arrangements. Phil helps companies remain compliant with the legal complexities of employee benefits law and advises on the employee benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
