How will the deliberations and decisions in Washington impact the benefits world? Join us November 13th to find out.

Back by popular demand, Jim Klein, President of the American Benefits Council, will provide the inside scoop on how political developments are likely to affect the future of the Total Rewards industry, benefits and compensation practices, as well as health and retirement policy.

The American Benefits Council, a Washington, D.C.-based employee benefits public policy organization, advocates for employers, connecting public policy and private-sector solutions to shape employee benefits for the evolving global workforce.  The Council works closely with Congress, the White House, executive branch agencies and the courts to champion legislation, regulation and legal rulings favorable to its members’ needs, and to defend the employer-sponsored benefits system from proposals that would add burdens, liabilities and costs.

Sign up early as this event fills up fast.  You won’t want to miss Jim’s balanced point of view and quick wit!

Volunteer Opportunity on November 22
at Connections to Success

We are excited to share an additional volunteer opportunity with Connections to Success, an organization that provides comprehensive support services to people living in poverty so that they can become economically self-sufficient.  Our members and supporters of Total Rewards KC have many talents and skills from which Connections to Success participants can benefit.

Our next event is on November 22nd from 9 a.m. to noon – we need 5 volunteers to participate.

  • 9:00-11:30 a.m.           Mock Interviews
  • 11:30 a.m.-noon          Employer Panel

The mock interviews and employer panel are a part of the participants’ last day of a 3-week training program.  At the end of the employer panel, Connections to Success holds a “Next Steps Celebration” which is a graduation-type ceremony, celebrating the growth and achievements of the participants.  You are invited to and welcome to stay for this event after the volunteer opportunity.

If you would like to sign up to volunteer or have questions, please contact Kelly Price at Kelly.Price@nbkc.com.

Not available for mock interviews but still want to do something?  We will also be collecting most needed items and professional clothing for participants of Connections to Success, at the meeting. Right now, their greatest needs are professional shoes, handbags, belts, briefcases, etc.  If you have any of these gently used items, please bring to the meeting.  Cash donations are always welcome!
