Join us on October 9th in downtown Kansas City to learn more about how companies in Kansas City are attracting and retaining talent. Angela Orr, Marketing Director of TeamKC at the Kansas City Area Development Council, will moderate a panel discussion addressing the following questions with representatives from several Kansas City companies:
- What are the latest trends in recruiting?
- How do companies attract a college graduate versus an experienced hire?
- How are companies using technology and automation for efficiency in high volume recruitment?
- What strategies are used to launch a successful employer brand and deliver the total rewards offering to potential candidates?
- What are potential candidates looking for in an organization when searching for jobs?
The audience will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the experienced professionals on the panel.
Kristi Jones
Kristi is the Director of Talent Acquisition at Spring Venture Group where she leads a team of recruiters and HR coordinators to develop, build and deliver innovative hiring and onboarding strategies to align with SVG’s mission. She brings over 20 years of human resources experience, specializing in talent acquisition. Prior to joining Spring Venture Group in 2019, Kristi was the Manager of Talent Acquisition at H&R Block. She is also the State Director for Missouri State Council of SHRM where she leads a team of 30 volunteers. Kristi has been a SHRM volunteer since 2002.
Jaime Elgas
Jaime is Vice President of Talent Management at JE Dunn leading their Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Talent Review and Succession Planning efforts. She loves what she does and enjoys being part of a team that has the Best People + Right Culture. Prior to JE Dunn, Jaime held senior HR leadership positions with several large Fortune 500 organizationes including Chubb Insurance, CNA Financial and the Sprint Corporation. Outside of work Jaime is an avid runner, carpool driver and soccer mom.
Shari Soper
Shari is the Director of Talent Acquisition for the H&R Block headquarters, where she leads the talent acquisition function to deliver the attraction, selection, and onboarding of 80,000+ hires per year, heavily leveraging automation. Shari started her career in agency recruitment, and prior to H&R Block also spent ten years with Colgate-Palmolive, most recently as Regional Talent Acquisition Leader for Latin America & North America. Shari has a track record of delivering enterprise wide talent acquisition results in the areas of global talent acquisition process design, employer branding, change management, and innovation. Shari is an advisory board member for TeamKC and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management and Leadership from Friends University in Wichita, KS.
Angela Orr - moderator
As marketing manager of the Kansas City Area Development Council's talent recruitment initiative, TeamKC: Life+Talent, Angela manages the creation and expansion of their ever growing suite of resources. She also plays a key role in KCADC investor recruitment and retention. Angela is in the Spring 2021 Centurions Leadership Program, a member of Social Media Club of Kansas City, the Greater KC Public Relations Society of America and formerly served on the Board of Directors for genKC. She has a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and Minor in Anthropology from the University of Central Missouri. A non-native Kansas Citian, Angela moved to KC in 2013 and joined KCADC in 2014.
