Join us on April 12 at Central Exchange in downtown Kansas City to learn more about how companies in Kansas City are attracting and retaining talent across multiple generations. Jessica Palm, Managing Director of TeamKC at the Kansas City Area Development Council, will moderate a panel discussion addressing the following questions with representatives in recruiting from KPMG, Children’s Mercy and Burns and McDonnell:

  • How do companies attract a college graduate versus an experienced hire?
  • What are potential candidates looking for in an organization when searching for jobs?
  • What are the latest trends in recruiting?
  • How are recruiters delivering the total rewards offering to potential candidates at their organization?

The audience will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the experienced professionals on the panel.

Panel members:

As Managing Director of TeamKC: Life+Talent at the Kansas City Area Development Council, Jessica Palm drives communication strategies to attract corporate investment, jobs and talented people. She oversees an exclusive leadership group of global HR and recruiting executives and a network of more than 750 recruiters in the KC community, and acts as publisher of KC Options magazine. Jessica was most recently accepted into the KC Chamber's prestigious Centurions Leadership Program class of 2018. Jessica was honored in 2017 with the Athena Young Professional Leadership Award presented by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and Athena International.  Jessica has also been recognized as a NextGen Leader by the Kansas City Business Journal, and was named one of the Most Influential Women in Business by KC Magazine.

Molly Weaver, MBA is the Director of Talent Acquisition for Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City, Missouri.  She leads a team of recruiters and is responsible for all hiring for the Hospital with the exception of physicians. Prior to joining Children’s Mercy she was a Senior Recruiting Manager with responsibilities for recruiting programs for T-Mobile USA.  Her focus is on attracting and keeping top healthcare talent for Children’s Mercy while ensuring the candidate experience is the best it can be.  Current initiatives include internal recruiting, reversing the job search process to be more candidate focused, building future talent pipelines through working with high schools and ensuring that Children’s Mercy is the first to offer to avoid losing talent through selection delays.

Kyri Gorges leads the campus recruiting effort at KPMG Kansas City. Her responsibilities include the development and implementation of local office strategies, relationship development with key professionals at major universities, and serves and leads various national recruiting programs for one of the largest accounting firms in the world. Kyri also sits on the steering committee of the local chapter of KPMG’s Network of Women. In addition, Kyri was a member of the 2017 Centurions class, serves as an Advisory Board Member of the KU Accounting Advisory Board and sits on several Career Services Board around the Midwest; and serves on the Operation Breakthrough Leadership Council.   

Jordan Ott is a Senior Recruiter at Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City, Missouri.  She currently recruits nationwide for experienced Engineering Project Managers and Business Development Managers across the firm's diverse Global Practices and industries. Jordan developed Burns & McDonnell's first internal sourcing specialist role years ago dedicated to proactively identifying and reaching out to candidates not necessarily looking for new opportunities. Engaging passive candidates has become an integral part of the company's recruitment strategy. Jordan's passion is finding top talent for Burns & McDonnell and constantly rethinking new and unique ways to do so!
